Alma Edizioni’s catalogue includes several book series:

Language coursebooks

This series includes textbooks that teachers can use in the classroom throughout the whole course according to their syllabi. Alma offers a complete range of textbooks adapted to different student profiles and learning objectives. Espresso, Alma’s leading product, is especially meant for students who are beginning to learn Italian, in Italy or abroad (A1-B1). For English-speaking students Alma proposes Italian Espresso, the first course book of this kind ever published in Italy. College and university students who already possess their own study and research methodology, thus learning faster, may adopt Universitalia, a single coursebook which takes students from A1 up to B1 threshold level.
Finally, this series also includes Magari, a coursebook on Italian language and culture for intermediate and advanced students (B1-C1).

Italian for children

This series is dedicated to younger students and their instructors.
Alma’s children’s books are based on the newest and most innovative methodological principles. All our books’ authors hold years long experience in the teaching and research field. So, Alma’s materials directly result from experimentation carried out in the classroom.

Easy readers

This series comprehends a complete range of original and easy-to-read short stories divided into five levels according to their lexical and grammatical features. Thanks to Alma’s short stories, even students who are not proficient yet can experience the pleasure of reading in Italian while improving their language skills. Through a wide range of literary genres and lively language styles, students can experience real life language, far from the usual “made for students” linguistic stereotypes.
Every book can be sold with an audio CD with a recording of the selected short story performed by Zauberteatro theater company actors.

Listening, reading, speaking and writing

This series includes books which focus on the four basic language skills. They will prove highly useful for all instructors who need tips for stimulating and involving listening, reading, speaking and writing class activities.

Grammar and exercise books

This series includes activities and games through which students can learn, improve and practice Italian morphology, syntax, vocabulary and grammar. Straighforward and scientifically valid explanations are accompanied with motivating exercises both for the classroom and self learning. This series is completed by Grammatica italiana, an essential reference book, and Verbissimo, a complete chart book on all Italian verb conjugations.

Italian for specialists

This series includes books for foreign researchers and professionals who need to use Italian within the scope of their professional activity. These easy to read books include exercises and activities for learning, improving and memorizing one’s vocabulary as well as high-frequency structures used in specialized fields.

Games

This section is about language games and brainteasers to use for self learning or in the classroom in order to improve vocabulary skills or evaluate knowledge. Books include charts which can be used as a practical means of assessment of acquired vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing skills.

Italian cinema

“Cinema italiano” series allows students to study Italian through watching subtitled short movies.
Every videotape includes two original short movies. It can be sold with a booklet with a wide range of activities and exercises that help understand and use movie language.
